Ultimate Tax Season Survival Kit {And a Giveaway!}

by GettingFreedom on February 9, 2012

Can you believe that Tax Season is already here?  By now everyone should have received all of their tax forms so they can get on to filing.  I know, most of us dread it, but it’s something we’ve got to do!

Filing Your Taxes

You can file your federal taxes for FREE using either H&R Block or TurboTax.

If you tax your taxes into an accountant {or do them yourself}, I’ve created a couple of checklists so you can be sure to have all your papers, the first time!  You can choose from the Individuals Checklist or the Small Business/Blogger Checklist, or download them both!{Every situation is different, so please check with your tax preparer for the specific documents you might need.}

Tax Time Survival Kit

I don’t know about you, but we worry about losing all of our important documents and pictures in a house fire.  There’s no way to get those back.  A lot of our relatives have duplicates of some of our photos {thankfully!}, but all of our tax documents would be lost.  Truly, I have no idea what we could if we were to lose those!

For this reason–every family should own a fireproof safe.

The SentrySafe HD4100 is a Waterproof Fire Safe File that will hold up to 40 standard hanging files-making it perfect to store all of your important tax documents.

But that’s not all!  It’s other features include::

It is UL Classified for Fire Endurance for half of an hour at 1500°F {man, that’s hot!} and is also ETL Verified for water submersion which will protect your documents during a flood.

The lid provides organization and easy access to passports, photo CD’s, checkbooks, or memory sticks {used for photo storage or important documents}.

Privacy key lock {with 2 keys}

Exterior dimensions:: 13 3/32 by 15 7/16 by 14 11/16-inch D

Interior dimensions:: 11 5/16 by 12 by 9 1/2-inch, weighing in at 42 pounds!

And, I’ve got one to giveaway! But that’s not all!

Let’s make tax season fun!

In addition to winning a SentrySafe HD4100 {valued at $59!}, one lucky reader will also win a $25 Wal-Mart gift card to put together the ultimate tax survival kit!

My Ultimate Tax Survival Kit includes::

  • Purple Folder to take all my important documents to my accountant
  • Binder Clips {so I won’t lose anything!}
  • Calculator {figuring up receipts and other things}
  • Pen
  • Notepad
  • Tax Preparation Checklist
  • Chocolate {to make taxes bearable :) }
  • Bodywash {You better believe once I’m done, I’m kicking it up and relaxing!}
Comment on this post and tell me What would be in your Ultimate Tax Kit and you will be entered to win!  For additional entries you can::

Giveaway is now closed! Congratulations to tnikki1@ {Comment #24}! You have 48 hours to respond.
{Full disclosure:: I was provided with a SentrySafe HD4100 and a $25 Walmart Gift Card.  All opinions expressed in this post are 100% mine, as always.}

This is something I so need. We have talked about purchasing one but still are holding out. I would put our “most” important documents in it and be thrilled. PS The Walmart gift card I can put to good use.

My Ultimate Tax Survival Kit would include, but not limited to, cod liver oil (so as to be able to think clearly), liver (so I have plenty of protein and energy) and essential oil (so I can keep the air clear). Of course, I need my husband (who does the taxes!) When it is all over I would have plenty of whine and even more wine!

Among other things my kit would contain a magic wand, no more skeletons from the past (parents: don’t make dumb decisions that give your adult kids headaches at tax-time! We thought we were finally done LAST year!), and whoever suggested the Rocky Road Ice Cream had a great idea :)

The fireproof safe is a great idea. Make sure you don’t over fill it. If you have it so full that you are counting on the latch to keep it shut, the latch my fail in a fire. The voice of sad experience here. Our documents were in much better shape than if they had been a non fire resistant container mind you.
BTW is the giveaway later tonight or was it 12am this morning? If it has not happened yet am I entered? I liked you on facebook too!
