Oriental Noodles

Asian fare is a favorite around here.  I’m really not sure if it’s accurate to call it Chinese, or just Oriental, or if Asian is safer.  Whatever the case is, these noodles have taken the place of our usual fried rice, and become a staple when I make Cashew Chicken or Sweet and Sour Chicken.

For Valentine’s Day I made an entire Chinese Take-Out Meal at home, instead of going out.  It saved us a load of money, and we all enjoyed it so very much!  I posted our menu on Facebook, and many requested that I post the recipe for the Oriental Noodles.

So, without further adieu…

Oriental Noodles

Oriental Noodles


  • Roughly 1 pound noodles. {We've used fettuccine noodles, as well as spaghetti, with Rice Noodles next on our list.}
  • 3-4 Tbsp. Sesame Oil
  • 1 ½-2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 to 1/8 tsp Chinese 5 Spice
  • 1-2 cups cooked Peas
  • Sesame Seeds and Green Onions {optional}


  1. Cook noodles until tender; drain.
  2. Add in the remaining ingredients and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

A lot of this recipe varies due to differences in taste and expectations.  My husband loves the flavor that the sesame oil adds to the dish, while some may want more of a soy sauce flavor.  I love the addition of the peas, because it adds additional veggies to our dish–easily!  But, others may not want it.  This dish is very forgiving–so experiment until you get the flavor your family loves.
