Meals with Deals

by GettingFreedom on February 27, 2011

This week I was rather excited to find a couple of mark down deals at the local grocer that I don’t normally find.  Especially since they were asking a $1.99 for one green pepper! I liked to have passed out in the produce section! On another note, Aldi’s has a pack of one each red, yellow and orange for .99¢.  It was probably a good thing Willie was with me, or I would have cleaned them out!.  We go through a lot of peppers, and I was envisioning a freezer full of diced peppers, for a deal.

Buttermilk: 99¢  {Already used almost half of it making Bran Muffins, Biscuits, and Pineapple Muffins}

(2) Pita Bread: $1 {Popped one in the freezer.}

Garden Vegetable Cream Cheese 99¢ {Love it on the Pita Bread for a quick snack!}

(2) Dole Coleslaw Mix 99¢ {Perfect for homemade Egg Rolls}

Coupon Matchup Highlights::

{for complete listing check out Local Coupon Matchup post.}

Town and Country: Bar S Jumbo Meat Franks .69/ea!

Richards: Van Camp’s Pork and Beans .25¢/ea!, Pam Cooking Spray 80¢!, Cheap Totino’s Pizza Rolls!

Ramey’s: Cheap Pillsbury and Yoplait Yogurt.

My mother remembers being a small child and seeing my grandmother use this very cookbook!

While planning this weeks menu, I finally decided to look at my grandmother’s old recipe book from the early 1950’s, a little closer.  I found a whole section devoted to Menu Planning, which gave me a good chuckle.  I’ve decided that it would be great fun to try an entire menu from each menu plan, every week. This week’s meal falls on Thursday.
