It’s no secret that we love Asian flavors and dishes. One of our many weaknesses is egg rolls. Purchasing them at the Chinese Restaurant {or from the grocery store} will quickly break the food budget.
So, why not make your own?
Create your own homemade egg rolls at home for about 40¢ a piece.
Ingredients
- 1 Package Egg Roll Wrappers
- Pre-bagged Coleslaw Mix (This frequently goes on sale--or you could chop your own cabbage/carrots)
- 1# each Ground Pork and Ground Beef
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 can water chestnuts {chopped}
- ¼ c. oyster sauce
- ½ c soy sauce
- Dash of each pepper and garlic salt.
Instructions
- Cook your ground beef and pork with the chopped onion, and drain.
- In a medium sized bowl combine bag of coleslaw, soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic salt/pepper and water chestnuts.
- Add in the browned meat mixture.
- Let cool.
- Turn the egg roll wrappers to look like a diamond. Put about 3 tbsp filling and fold up the corner closest to you to just on top of the filing.
- Take the 2 sides and bring them in.
- Roll and seal the end with water.
- You can either bake at 425° for about 18-20 minutes or fry them in oil until golden brown.

Y-U-M-M-Y!! It’s a lot cheaper than eating out and probably healthier too.
Fix up some Cashew Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken or other favorite Chinese/Asian Dish and you’ve got a great alternative to take out! Definitely cheaper than dining out!
