Those of you that have followed me for a while know that I’m pretty passionate about home gardening.
One of the statements I hear frequently regarding gardening, is that “it’s just as cheap for me to purchase the produce as it is for me to grow it.”
I want to shout-“Not even close!”, as my passion tends to get the best of me at times.
I begin to rattle off numbers in comparison, such as a packet of tomato seeds costs me around $2, with a minimum of 25 seeds. If only 12 of them germinate, and produce roughly 10 pounds of tomatoes EACH, you’ve just acquired 120 pounds of tomatoes for $2!
Either way, my gardening passion (and my passion for living a frugal lifestyle) comes out and I’ve either completely scared the person off, convinced them that I’m insane, or my words have piqued their interest. Hopefully it’s the latter!
I finally decided that it would be best if I just put everything in book. This way, my passion doesn’t scare people and they are able to get the info I desperately want them to know. Gardening can be frugal and fun!
