Finding Freedom

by GettingFreedom on February 25, 2009

For the next couple of weeks–I will be putting the Finding Freedom posts on hold. There will still be Finding Freedom Fridays, complete with Mr. Linky’s for you all to link up.

Since I didn’t do the linky from the get go, I’m going to play catch up now.

Thank you so very much to everyone who linked up and shared how they were cutting their costs. As I mentioned last week was a “free for all” type thing, and from here on out there will be a theme. I ask that if you link up, you stay true to the theme, so that the readers will get quality content.

This week the Finding Freedom Friday topic is Grocery Shopping.

Here are some questions to get your wheels turning:

  • Why have you cut your budget?
    • Out of want? Necessity? Health?
  • How have you cut your grocery budget?
    • Using cash.
    • Cutting out certain items/treats.
    • Doing more from scratch cooking.
    • Gardening/Being Self Sustaining.
    • Menu Planning.
  • What helps you stay on track?
  • What are your tips?

I will have Mr.Linky ready for you on Friday. And, will be giving something special away to one person who links up on Friday! So–be sure to have your post ready.

Finding Freedom

by GettingFreedom on January 13, 2009

In the last few weeks I have been trying to piece together a series called Finding Freedom.
Many people set new goals for themselves for the upcoming new year and I have heard tons of talk this year about finances. (I, for one, am focusing heavily on finances!) I’m sure that the current state of the economy may have something to do with it, but I also hope that we, as a society, are ready to get our lives back from the lenders that have us chained up!
There are a few things that I am wanting to cover with this series.
  • A working budget.
  • Budget Notebook.
  • Rolling your snowball.
  • Grocery Shopping.
  • Meal Planning.
  • Making from Scratch vs. Store Bought.

**I’m sure that as we go along, these will change, and hopefully grow as we bounce off of each other.

This is where you come in.
I am pretty open with our financial journey, but I know that some others are not as open (and I fully respect that.). What I am wanting to know, is as we go into this, would you be willing to chart your progresses and your failures right along with me? If you do I can set up Mr. Linky, or you can leave it all in the comment section. But, I’m wanting your feedback. If there is another area financially that you want me to focus on, let me know and I will do my best to help you out and do a feature on it.
The blogging community has been such an encouragement to me throughout this process, and I want to be here to help you on your journey. I know that it can be tough and discouraging at times, but we are all in this together. With these roadblocks there are also plenty of celebrations, and I want to dance with you! We can overcome the chains and achieve freedom!
Will you join me?
If you have a suggestion for a topic, or an opinion on Mr. Linky….feel free to email me at the address on the sidebar, or drop a comment.
While I know that I am not a pro, and I make mistakes just as much as the next person, I hope that some of the pointers that I have picked up along the way will help you. Or atleast give you a direction to go in.
