As many of you already know, I’ve been using essential oils for many years now, mostly in our cleaning supplies. Recently I started exploring different ways to incorporate them into my everyday life and how I could use them to support my overall wellness — and possibly get rid of some of the chemicals that are in the things I use every single day.
Last week I decided to whip up some facial moisturizer using expeller pressed coconut oil and frankincense essential oil. Let me tell you, that was 5 minutes very well spent!
Benefits of Coconut Oil:
- Helps Hydrate Skin
- Helps with Premature Signs of Aging
- Delays the Appearance of Wrinkles
Benefits of Frankincense Essential Oil:
- May help Smooth the Appearance of Skin
- Supports Skin Health when applied to Wrinkles, Age Spots or Scars
- Lifts Moods and Increases Inner Strength.
- Inspires Balanced Emotions
- Helps to Ease Tension
As you can imagine, when you combine coconut oil and therapeutic grade frankincense essential oil — you have a powerhouse beauty serum!
The batch I made was big enough for a half-pint canning jar (the size typically used for jellies). From there, I’ve separated it into little tubs, which should be plenty for at least a month’s worth. You need very little of this beauty serum, like just a fingertip (or two) for your whole face. Amazing I tell you! Each little tub cost me less than $1 to make! Great things DO come in small packages!
How to Make your Own DIY Beauty Serum
In a mixing bowl, add 1 cup of coconut oil, in its solid state.
Whip for about 5 minutes until it is light and airy.
Drop in 20 drops of Frankincense Essential Oil.
Combine the oils by mixing again.
Then store and enjoy the benefits of using essential oils!
