Before you know it, it will be fall and our days will be filled with Girl Scout meetings, football games and holidays. It’s probably the busiest time of the year. So who has time to slave over the stove every day? Here’s an easy crockpot recipe that will cook while you are out in a pumpkin patch  enjoying fall.

Cook Time: 7 hours

Total Time: 7 hours, 20 minutes

Crockpot Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

  • Water
  • Chicken
  • 1 stick of Butter
  • 4 Chicken bullion cubes or cups of chicken broth
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • For the dumplings:
  • Flour
  • Water

  1. Place your chicken in the crockpot. Boneless works best, but bone-in chicken is okay too.Just don't forget to remove all the bones before putting your dumplings in. It's your choice on how much chicken to use. I used a family pack of Kroger chicken tenderloins.
  2. Add in your butter and chicken bullion or broth, fill with water to the top.
  3. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.
  4. When the chicken is done, remove it from the crock pot and shred it up then put it back in the pot. Add your dumplings and cook on high for another 3 hours. Add salt and pepper to your liking.
  5. To make your dumplings: Mix three tablespoons of water with three cups of flour. Roll out to desired thickness on a floured surface and using a pizza roller, cut into squares.
  6. TIP: You can cook your chicken on low overnight and then make your dumplings in the morning and cook on low all day.
