Crock pot Dump Cake {September 15th}

by Kristina @ GettingFreedom on September 15, 2013

For this week’s crock pot recipe, I wanted to show that you can make more than dinner in your crock pot. You can make desserts too.  I was going to show you that you can make a box cake mix in the crock pot and then post the recipe for a raspberry glaze. I was going to. But reality hit and the box cake didn’t turn out quite right. So on to plan b which luckily for me worked out.

Easy cherry dump cake.

All you need is four ingredients. Cherry pie filling, can of crushed pineapple, a stick of butter and a yellow cake mix. The pineapple is optional, it tastes great with or without it.

Crock pot Dump Cake {September 15th}

  • 1 can of cherry pie filling
  • 1 can of drained crushed pineapple (optional)
  • 1 box dry yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick of butter, melted

  1. Spray the inside of your crock pot insert with cooking spray.
  2. Pour your cans of cherry pie filling and pineapple into the bottom of crock pot and mix together.
  3. Top cherry/pineapple mixture with dry cake mix.
  4. Drizzle melted butter on top of cake mix.
  5. Using paper towels or a clean hand towel, cover the top of the crock pot and then cover with the lid. The towel, paper or cloth, will catch the condensation so it doesn't drip onto your cake .while cooking. Cook on low for 2 1/2 - 3 hours and do not remove the lid during that time.

I didn’t have any ice cream, but this dump cake is perfect along side a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can also mix things up a bit and try  using a chocolate cake mix instead of yellow.
