Many years ago my Mother-In-Law passed down a white antique dresser to us. It’s always needed a little something, we just never took the time to do it.
The little white metal dresser was perfectly functional, just wasn’t quite so easy on the eyes. My husband thought I was crazy, but I refused to get rid of it because I knew it had much more in store for it’s life! When Project Major Home Addition started, and we had to move everything we own to the garage or barn, I promised myself that I wouldn’t move anything into the house until I absolutely loved it. Otherwise, I knew I’d never get to it.
I had a vision, and I ran with it!
During storage, it got a little rusty in spots, but nothing that a little sanding and elbow grease couldn’t help.
After I finished sanding, I used an old rag and wiped everything down. Then, I used Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze Spray Paint, and painted the entire thing. At first, having never spray painted furniture, I was a little scared. But, the more I sprayed, the more confident I was that the end product was going to be amazing. A boy was I right!!
I found a perfect home for it in our entry way.
What do you think?? For under $10, I think it turned out Fabulously Frugal!

Looks great! I love old metal furniture.
That turned out so nice. I am on the lookout for a nice piece of furniture to put by my front door too.
so cool…. hope I can find some fun things at yard sales this summer and spruce up the new house
Phoebe! It’s fabulous!!
One word. Wow.
Looks great, Phoebe! You know I love me some spray paint, especially ORB!!
Love it! Beautiful!
It looks great! Looking at the pictures makes me want to go garage sale and/or thrift shopping.
I LOVE projects like this. The color turned out great. The lettering above with the yellow walls, white trim and hard wood floors pulls it all together beautifully.
Nice job!
