Our Hall Closet is a problem area for us. I think one of the biggest problems is that I don’t really have a separate office space, so I find myself cramming my office stuff into the hall closet with everything else a hall closet holds. Pair that with a husband who has a coat fetish (he seems to have a fear of not having enough coats/jackets), a wife with a bag obsession, children who love to craft and draw, and you’ve got a recipe for disaster!
I was so excited to see that Fishmama’s Spring Clean Along, Happy Housewife Clean Home, Fresh Start and MoneySavingMom’s Clear Out the Clutter Challenge. All of this in addition to Amy’s Decluttering Challenge has got me all a buzz! Apparently I’m not the only one with clutter on the mind! So, this morning I attacked my Hall Closet full on.
I can’t even believe I’m going to show you what my hall closet looked like before–It’s atrocious! But, I’m all about keeping it real.

I would have loved to have gotten rid of some more coats–but I know my husband would’ve had a fit! I moved some of the heavier coats into our closet, just to get them out of the hall closet. Hopefully we won’t be needing them again this year. When he comes home, I’m going to ask him again if there are any we can get rid of. Fingers crossed he sees my side this time.
This is what I got rid of, either by trash, or soon to be donated:

A total of 25 items gone! 14 of those being trash.
Here is the finished product!

Much better! The bags on top of the shelving unit are the kids’ backpacks. Now, how long will it stay like this?

I’m in on the Spring Cleaning Challenges to. I’m doing things a little differently though and am tackling one room a week. I’m doing my living room this week and am about half way through it. I love the way it’s shaping up. Keep up the great work!
