Shelly–I agree–you miss one thing, one time and everything goes askew! We also have 3 freezers, I just keep the inventory list on one freezer that way I can see everything all at one time.

Amy– For now I’ve been tallying beside each item when I take something out. At the very bottom of my sheets I have room to add things in, like after I go grocery shopping. When my inventory starts getting full with tallies and marks–I just print off a new one on the back of this one. That way I’m not wasting a ton of paper. Thankfully my husband brings home big stacks of scrap paper from his job!

Debbie– That is great for a family of 7! I had to stock up on some bulk supplies this month, too. So, we’re hoping to use mostly food out of our pantry and freezer this month to help even out my grocery expenses.

Wow, that’s a lot of work! Definitely pays off, though. We just have the refrigerator freezer, so it’s easier to keep track, but I still need to go through it and update my mental inventory once or twice a month. I wish we had the space for a larger freezer.

I did the same thing last month and that is why I was able to spend only $25 a week for this month, totaling $100 (with just a little more spent on bulk baking supplies this month). So, to be fair $132 for this month. Not bad for a family of 7.

Good for you. Do you have a system for updating or do you have to print off a new one each time?
