I meant to get this up yesterday, but ended up being busy with my grocery shopping list, preparing for the Once a Month Mom CookOff, and decluttering. By evening, I was completely spent.
Jamie, from I Am A Money Magnet, asked me a few weeks back if I could write a guest post for her on how I save money at the grocery store without using coupons. Most people don’t realize this, but I’ve not played the coupon game in over a year, and I’m still able to keep my grocery budget between $250 and $300/month for our family of five.
My post went live yesterday over at Jamie’s place–so head on over and check it out!

Thanks Phoebe! I have been doing the coupons for quite awhile now and I have been feeling stressed out by trying to get all the coupons cut, organized, and reading all the blogs to find out what’s on sale and what coupons to use. I used to like shopping, now I find myself not wanting to go. But after reading Family Feasts for 75 a week and now your post, I am feeling more upbeat about sticking to meal planning and not so much on catching the big sales for things I don’t need at the moment. Thanks again!

@Nicole–That is the very reason I stopped using coupons. I was getting caught up in all of the deals and what not. That, and I realized I had so much stuff. While it was nice having a big stockpile of somethings, I think I took the game too far for my liking. I’m much happier now with how I do things.

@GettingFreedom, Well I have been meal planning for almost two weeks now, and sticking to it
, I feel like I have a new look on things. I still look and see if something is on sale with coupons before I leave, but it is more about what I have planned for the week. It is getting better and I am sure if I stick with the meal planning I won’t feel so overwhelmed and once again like to go shopping. Thanks again for all your wonderful posts!
