Productivity Tool

by GettingFreedom on February 23, 2010

As the mother of 3 very noisy, yet lovely children, I cherish silence.  I have a few hours every day where all 3 kids are at school.  I’ve been known to come home from dropping my youngest off, and only turning on one light.  It’s peaceful.  Relaxing. It’s heaven-like.

But that is the problem.  I’ve found that those days are my least productive days by far.  Unfortunately my house would fall apart if I had too many of those days.

My solution? This:

My under the cabinet radio.  Or any radio for that matter.  I picked this one up over the summer for a whopping $25 from Aldi!

Turn in on, get some music flowing, and let your productive juices flow.  It’s bound to make a difference on your To-Do-List.

Chris bought me a radio with CD player and a tape player (they are pretty hard to find now days!) so I can listen to music and I can listen to audiobooks. That way if our library has then only on cassette I can still listen to it. It is a great way to occupy my mind while I am cleaning.

I had no idea they made them with tape players! That would be handy. Mine has a CD player on it, and strangely enough, I rarely use it. Thought I would use the CD part more than the radio.

I find that turning on the music will also get the kids going too!

I can relate by far…if the house is too quiet, I will fall asleep or feel lazy, but when there is sound (not the TV) I am much more productive! Thanks for sharing!

So it looks like it comes with a CD player? Our radio reception isn’t great here.
I think it would help, cause now I turn our big stereo on really loud in the living room, so that I can hear it in the kitchen. So duirng nap time I don’t get my music.

Yes, it does have a CD player. Most that I have seen have one. Our stereo doesn’t get my favorite radio station, but this one does…which I never expected.

So true, but so often forgotten! My husband’s the first to put on music & I always love it when he does, but I for whatever reason always seem to forget!

I bought one about 12 years ago and mine has a tape player in it. I wish mine had a CD player as we don’t use tapes much anymore, but it has come in handy for school from time to time. Always loved having mine in the kitchen.

I agree, except I find myself typing lyrics instead of getting work done. I actually use white noise for productivity and sleep. Here’s a free one if you’re interested:

If you go to their store (it’s my friend’s), use code UPGRADE for a free upgrade on it, too.
It’s not for everyone, but like you, too quiet is not peaceful for me.

I agree. I use Pandora on my computer. But music makes everything go better.
