Warm Pumpkin Dip

by GettingFreedom on September 24, 2009

Fall brings on an influx of family and friend gatherings for us. I have a really hard time gathering, and not bringing some form of food, and this dish is just perfect for those moments. You can’t have one without the other, can you?
I had this dip a few years back at Thanksgiving. It was amongst a whole table of hors d’oerves, and I just couldn’t take myself from it. It exudes all things fall. From it’s color, to the pumpkin and cinnamon, and since it is served warm, it is nice and cozy, too! :) Ahhh..Comfort Food.
I have since lost the original recipe, but I am almost certain that this is just about as close to “the real deal” as you can get!

*Ahem. Please forgive the poor quality photo and the sea of white. It’s obvious I’m not a photograher, or a sprinkler.*

Warm Pumpkin Dip

Roughly 1 ½ cups pumpkin puree (or 1 can pumpkin)
8 ounces cream cheese; softened
2 cups powdered sugar
1 Tbsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (if you do not have this spice, use a combination of allspice, ginger and ground clove)
Sprinkling of Cinnamon

In mixing bowl combine the powdered sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Add in the pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin. Mix thoroughly. Pour into a pie pan and bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and powdered sugar. Serve with graham crackers. We like to use the small, graham cracker sticks. Perfect for dipping!

Enjoy!

Yummy looking! And with my recent stock-ups on cream cheese, this will be a good, quick, easy dish to take to functions :)

I'm still undecided on how much I like pumpkin, but this recipe sounds yummy! Heck, anything mixed with cream cheese usually is (and like Miriam I'm stocked uo on the stuff!). I'll have to take this to work the next time we have a food day.

This dip sounds delicious, and it's naturally gluten free. I would just have to find something other than graham crackers to serve with it.

I love pumpkin…anything with pumpkin. It almost sounds like a lighter, healthier version of pumpkin cheesecake. Gotta love that!

Pumpkin dip is a wonderful thing! Yours looks and sounds great to me. I've made some in my mini crockpot before and everyone loved it. I used Glutino pretzels and gluten-free ginger snaps to go with it. I even liked it as cold leftovers, too. Two different tastes, but both great. :-)

Yum! This looks like a great dip. I might just have to make it tonight. Sounds like the perfect munchie for a snowy evening. :-)

What a great idea! We’re all snowed in here, too. The kids are going wild. I might have to whip up some and maybe some pumpkin muffins. ;)
