Thank you for posting the encouragement! I've killed my seedlings in the past, too, but need to plant a much bigger garden this year than in the past.

Found you from the Garden Club... your seedlings look great! This is my first year to try and start from seeds, and I'm so nervous I'm going to kill them! Looking forward to seeing how your progress this spring!

That's where I got all my seeds & I've been very pleased with them.

Ethelapple-
I was told by a nursery owner that after your seeds have germinated, and their second set of leaves form, it is time to re-pot them into a bigger container. When I repotted mine, their root system were all the way to the bottom! Being in the bigger container they will have more room to establish their root systems, so they shouldn't fall over.

N.-
I'm working on a Gardening 101 type post--hope to get it cranked out by next week.

Green peppers are tricky, and take a lot longer to germinate than some others. And from what I understand, it can take all of 3 weeks to get rosemary to germinate! (Did you know that rosemary is wonderful to plant aroud cabbage/broccoli/cauliflower to repel worms/bugs?)

I'm jealous, because I have yet to find rosemary seeds!

Lindsay-
Nope--I don't think you are too late. You can go here which will give you a detailed look (by your exact location) at when your last frost date is. Most seeds on the package will tell you how far in advance of that date to start them. But, if you are willing to repot them, you can start a little further out from that date.

Let me know if I can help!

We've decided to plant a garden this year. I've tried in the past, but my heart wasn't in it and I didn't really NEED to. This year, I don't have a choice. We're now living on one income and the "free" food will be great.
I bought supplies last night to grow my first seedlings. Is it too late to start? I live in West Central IL.
I plan to visit your blog when I have a little more time to comb through all the info you've posted about seedlings.
