With the economy being all wonky the past few months, I’m incredibly thankful that we decided this debt free journey when we did! Cutting costs is now second nature to me, and I hope that with Finding Freedom Friday, we can gather and share a wealth of knowledge with each other so that we can all cut those costs.
What is a better time to start, than now?
This week, there isn’t a theme, just share with us how your family is cutting back on your expenses.
Also, so you can get a chance to prepare for next week, the theme will be “Cutting Grocery Costs” since that has been a very popular topic lately.
A little birdy also told me that there just may be a fun little surprise to be had next week–so be sure to come back and find out what it is!
Rules to the game:
- Link to your post, not your homepage.
- Please be sure to include a link back here so that all your readers can get in on the other tips as well.
- Tell everyone you know so we can make it a success and can all profit from it.
- Have fun!

We’ve been spending more at the grocery store and less eating out. I’ve actually lost another 5 pounds.
My husband and I also joined the local recreation center gym. The dues are only $12 a month.

I would be interested in ways ladies and you save on your health care needs. (doctor’s appointments, dentist, eyeglasses, etc)
Thank you. And I do enjoy reading your blog.

We too are (embarassingly) saving A LOT of $ by not eating out. We have resorted to very simple meals and forcing the kids to now eat what is served or go to bed hungry. We have allowed them to be picky way too long. And we have eaten out WAY too much. Thnanks again for your inspiring blog.

I have done several things lately that I hope will make a notable difference in our monthly expenses. First, we dumped cable. Hello, hulu. I called my insurance company and had the cars added to the same company as our homeowners insurance and will save about $500 for the year. I also called the electric company and signed up for a plan that lowers our kw/hr rate from 0.18 cents to 0.125. This, I hope will make a huge difference as we don’t have any gas heat in our house. Here’s hoping!

Can’t wait for next week. Groceries were an area of major cut backs for our family when we wanted to get out of debt.

I just wanted to thank you for the comment love on my 10 Minute Room (The Nester Series) post (I’m the one who moved the deer over the fireplace). I’m a new blogger, and it was exciting for me to get a comment for someone that I’ve been following for the last several weeks. Silly, I know…but it did really excite me! Oh, and for the record, I didn’t ask my husband to move the deer. I just did it and he came home and said he really liked it with the family picture!

My husband and I save money by car pooling to work. We use to drive 2 cars everyday. When the gas prices got so high we decided that wuold car pool.
We work only about 2 miles from each other. It has worked out well and save us ove 200.00 a month, on gas.
Not to mention that I don’t stop at store like I use to on the way on and spend money on a whim.
I don’t even know how much that is saving us.

Just like many we are cutting back on eating out and unnecesary shopping. I have become obsessed with trying to save on my groceries. Love all your ideas. I posted a link to my BLOG on your page.
