My husband and I's story is very similar to yours. We completed the FPU course in Oct '08 and we are moving right along. We have been blessed to be able to get out from under our car payments and purchase reliable, late 90's vehicles for cash. That has helped A LOT! Amy's Finer Things Blog has helped me stay motivated and I just subscribed to yours as well.
Our next obstacle is my transition to be a SAHM. So the "Mommy Come Home" series Amy is doing is great.

I’m enjoying reading your posts! Looking forward to the next installment! I don’t plan dinners (of course its just me and DH) and you are so right about just having random ingredients in the house and not really having enough to make a well rounded meal. Tonight’s dinner for us- Betty Crocker potatoes and Pillsbury Cinnamon Twists! LOL (its not always this bad haha)

I really need to get on board with the cash envelopes. I haven’t read this Dave Ramsey idea anywhere, but I’m glad you’ve explained it here. It’s a good idea to use cash for at least groceries, gas, and having a “blow” fund! Good stuff….thanks!!

When we used cash at the grocery store, I used a calculator to keep track of every purchase so we didn’t go over. Recently we were talking about doing that again. It really kept us from impulse-buying.
